The sixth edition of the annual Miss Green and White Nigeria (MGWN) will hold in Lagos on Sunday 27th October, 2019. The annual beauty pageant holds every October as part of activities to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence.
This year’s edition holds at Presken Hotel and Suites, Ikeja, Lagos by 3pm. According to the founder, Juliet Geoffrey Porbeni, the pageant brings together Nigerian Youths as advocates for peace and a decent society.
Porbeni in a statement revealed that the initiative has created platforms for young people to become more relevant in the society by lending their voices to the fight against the surge of violence and terrorism that is fast creeping into the Nigeria society.
“Nigeria has over the past few years recorded series of events that has threatened our existence as a once peaceful nation, the perpetrators are usually idle youths who have become tools in the hands of the evil ones who send them on these ungodly assignments,” she added
“MGWN hopes to promote a peaceful and mutually tolerant Nigeria by investing in the youths. “Young people are on the front lines of political and social change and have the power to renew cultures as well as maintain important traditions. youth skills training encourage employments and paves way for youth to build the green economy we need. It is absolutely critical that youth empowerment is promoted and supported through inclusive, effective, inspiring and innovative projects that promote their rights.”
Porbeni also said that the organizations supporting the MGWN initiative have volunteered to support and empower the winners through free skill acquisition programmes.
