Unlike the previous elections, the outcome of the forthcoming exercise will decide the soul of our nation, reason that, by all parameters, the country is at the brink of extinction.
The sophistry of corruption, weak institutions, greed, self conceits and pecuniary inclination however portends palpable bottlenecks, Nigerians’ weariness of bad leadership appears more telling and it may not be business as usual. This is the peculiarity of the February 2023 elections.
As the world strives for developments, demand for intellectuals as economic drivers is progressively on the rise. From the law making frames of reference, intellectuals reflect the constitutional backdrop on which the society functions. They enhance efficiencies by reducing the cost of political exchange. Simply put, intellectuals have systematic ways of impacting economic performances of the society that is apparently unconventional to a retarded system. Hence, Dr Victor Alewo Adoji’s candidacy is apt and timely.
By all standards, the former banker isn’t one to be taken with levity if Kogi East’s socioeconomic and political giant strides enmeshed in the abyss of recklessness, vague-vision, incompetency and chaos are a matter of concern. His antecedents as management employee of Zenith bank remains the testament of the fact. More so, in a complex environment like Nigeria, getting it right requires competent hands because, there are more to the outer looks and Dr Victor’s manifesto is preferably the curative approach.
With a tempting CV, professional and people-friendly approach, it is empirical that DVAA’s core mission is service to humanity, a semblance of true Democracy. Again, Leadership is about identifying problems and proffering solutions, the reason problem solvers are in short supplies. No one, especially a growth-famishing society plays the dummy anymore. Mundane placards of ethnicity and religion, social or political affiliations don’t even hold sway. Character, competence and capacity do.
From agriculture to business, creativity to entertainment, Dr Victor Alewo Adoji has communicated himself as problem solver. As a matter of fact, with the series of video, stakeholders’ (constituents) letter, constant communion and the ongoing tour, what is embedded in SOCIAL CONTRACT has been partly communicated to Igala/Bassa at every nooks and crannies, and if elected, the prospect will manifest contextually to change existing narrative of landlocked, air and sea-locked economy of the district and by extension, Nigeria. As agrarians, good road network will revitalize the economy. Through a simple touch and drop-down effects, easy movement of the people would have boosted Kogi East’s economy by sixty percent. As creativity and talents hub, policies, lobbies, initiatives and supports are a must, to enhance inventiveness among youths in ways that projects self reliance through designated programs like youthpreneurship. To the market women, an accessible Kogi East would boost trading. To the cashew farmers, a standard processing plant is assured. In short, the cashew processing plants would not only enlarge the coast of farmers’ income, direct employment is generated in quantum. Women’s inclusiveness in leadership will also be a subject of focus. What about patent rights? Inventors can now enjoy the monopoly of doing something entirely new for many years. Think youth unemployment? DVAA’s youth ideology is creativity and industry. No wonder, he say this often; “when I see the youths, I see creativity and industry.”
As a senator representing Kogi East, DVAA will invest hugely in Youths’ empowerments through policies and supports. Most importantly, as a member of deprived society and citizen of the world’s poverty capital, Dr Victor Adoji shall take decisive approach to tackling poverty from the rubrics such as uneven distribution of resources, inequality in the standards of living, inflation, et alia.
He is not unaware of the social needs of his people. Frankly speaking, the essence of been a Lawmaker is to bring to bear a framework with which other arms of government can function effectively. By way of policy, supports, oversight, override and collaborative functions, there shall be initiative foreseeing the social needs of Kogi Easterners even after leaving office. The local government Autonomy shall also be deepened through proactive regulatory measures so as to shut the door to embezzlement of funds and foster amenities like water, auxiliary health outlets, and skill acquisitions at the grassroots.
Evidently, his capability was experimented in the formation of Igala United Football club— an initiative that was effected two years ago, now a National league division two club. More so, the baby club has produced players earning in foreign currencies playing abroad. Leveraging the massive output, there shall be similar innovative approaches toward projecting the youths as the decider-factor of national prosperity and as deliberate affront to arming them for thuggery and violence.
It is often said that, “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.” The above quote which author I cannot establish in the course of this writing speaks aptly to existing rabid Kogi East’s representative conundrum. It is also vast in Dr Victor Adoji’s mission and vision. The primary job of a Lawmaker is to ensure safer paths for the society from the aspect of law making. It is the duty of a Lawmaker to make laws that would strengthen institutions against corruption, stealing, unemployment, insecurity as well as to Legislatively enhance transparency and accountability among public office holders.
Unfortunately, these essentials had been deliberately cajoled to unsubstantial miniatures in a simple perfidious attempt to hoodwink ideologies about who should do what. In advanced countries like the America, the Congress is such a powerful assembly. In the U.K, the parliament is so sophisticated. As a matter of reality, a corrupt-lessen, socially sound, religiously cohabiting, and politically stable society is the resultant effect of sound Legislation.
Therefore, it is not out of context to say that, in order to get the country right, the national assembly must be reformed and made an open bid to competent hands only. As a matter of fact, sound Legislative system is the surest way to get leadership aright. Certain laws need to be enacted not only to strengthen institutions against criminality but as prime signal to prospective leaders. It is the reason corrupt people in Japan kill themselves before they are caught. Those in China are killed, those in Europe are jailed. But sadly, in Africa, they present themselves for election due to weak system.
It is time to take Nigeria back and one of the pathfinders is a Kogi Easterner. His name is Dr Victor Alewo Adoji.
