The kano state house of assembly is poised to investigate Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi ll after the assembly claimed it received petition from from association and individual over the disposition and posturing of the Emir
To this end, the state assembly constituted an eight- man committee to investigate alleged violations of culture and traditions as well as religious norms of Kano against Emir Muhammad Sanusi II.
The committee on public petition was mandated to investigate a petition submitted before the house by an association and an individual over the attitude and character of the emir which they claimed was in dispute to the culture and religion.
The groups are Kano State for Promotion of Education and Culture and Mohammed Mukthar Ja’en Yamma, Gwale local government on the petition, the two groups im the lawmakers to investigate the alleged purported misconduct and take an appropriate stand on it.
The committee, which was headed by the Deputy Speaker, Hamisu Chidare and severn others, after extensive deliberations by the House, was given one week to investigate, conclude and submit its findings as well as recommend appropriate actions.
For month on end, emir Sanusi and the government of Kano state have been at loggerheads over the former’s take on issues like governance and culture.
Sanusi’s views which are liberal and broadminded are seen as offensive by the largely conservative northern Nigeria.
