Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, has announced that the first day of Ramadan will be on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
In a statement made on Friday from his palace in Sokoto, the Sultan confirmed that the crescent moon marking the start of the holy month was sighted on the 29th day of Shaban.
The Sultan, who is also the head of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, explained that reports of the moon sightings from various regions of the country were thoroughly verified and accepted. This marks the official beginning of Ramadan 1446.
He called on Muslims to dedicate the upcoming month to prayer, seeking Allah’s blessings and guidance for the nation and its leaders.
