The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced the temporary closure of the Port Harcourt Refining Company for scheduled maintenance.

In a statement released on Saturday, the company said that the refinery would be shut down for one month beginning May 24, 2025.

“NNPC Ltd wishes to inform the general public that the Port Harcourt Refining Company will undergo a planned maintenance shutdown.

“This scheduled maintenance and sustainability assessment will commence on May 24, 2025,” said Olufemi Soneye, NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer.

Soneye noted that the exercise is part of routine safety and sustainability efforts and assured the public that the company is collaborating with all relevant regulatory bodies.

“We are working closely with all relevant stakeholders, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority to ensure the maintenance and assessment activities are carried out efficiently and transparently.”

He reiterated the company’s focus on long-term operational safety and national energy security.
