Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, was on Wednesday blocked from presenting the 2025 budget to the State House of Assembly.
The budget was set to be laid before the Assembly following a Supreme Court ruling halting federal allocations to the state until the budget is approved.
However, upon arrival at the Assembly complex, Fubara was locked out.
Speaking outside the premises, Fubara explained that his attempt to present the budget was for the people of Rivers State.
He also mentioned that he had written to the Speaker and spoken with him before showing up in person.
The Assembly has been meeting at the Legislative Quarters in Port Harcourt since December 2023 after the state government demolished the Assembly complex.
