Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State governor has denied reports of the purported appointment of Musiliu Akinsanya, a.k.a MC Oluomo, as the general manager of Lagos State Transportation Parks and Garages Management Committee.
Reports had emerged on Thursday that state government had appointed Oluomo to manage the parks, hours after his suspension by the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
But in a statement on Friday, Gboyega Akosile, the chief press secretary to the Lagos State governor, said the news is false and should be disregarded.
According to Akosile: “Please disregard posts that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appointed suspended chairman of NURTW as GM, Lagos State Transportation Parks and Garages Management Committee. There is no such appointment. The statement issued yesterday by Gbenga Omotosho, the state commissioner for Information and Strategy, remains the position of the government.
Recall, THE WITNESS had reported on Thursday that the NURTW suspended MC Oluomo, following weeks of protracted conflict and leadership tussle.
The letter dated March 9, 2022, directed MC Oluomo to hand over all union properties in his care to the state secretary and hand over the leadership to his deputy.
Few hours later, the Lagos State government in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotosho, announced that it had suspended the activities of the NURTW in parks in the state till further notice.
