John Okafor, alias Mr Ibu, a popular Nollywood’s actor, has responded to false rumours of his death, noting that he would inform those wishing him death when it time for him to die.
Mr. Ibu who is battling an undisclosed illness, said he was poisoned while addressing the rumours in a video he shared on social media.
Speaking in the video apparently recorded from his hospital bed, Ibu lamented how some people were taking advantage of his health condition.
He alleged that some people, after seeing his condition, sold him off for free, while expressing confidence that God has healed him.
“Some people have seen me like this. They really want to hear from me. All they know is to sell me free of charge. It didn’t work. God has raised me up,” he said.
Mr. noted that he has not asked anyone to beg for money on his behalf, even as would not reject such gesture from friends who wish to do so.
“I’m here with my wife. I’m not saying all my friends that are supposed to pay me a visit and bring me money cannot give me,” he said.
“I’ve never asked anyone to beg people for money on my behalf. It is not as critical as they are talking now. They should stop. If I want to die, I’ll let you know, since you’re interested,” he said.
Mr. Ibu said he was poisoned in Abuja, but that was recovering.
“I just got poisoned again. It seems my enemies are using me to rehearse (their powers). This time, I wasn’t poisoned in the village. I was poisoned in Abuja last week at an entertainment event. I really cannot explain how I was poisoned because it was a gathering of people, though it was not a big event,” he said.
“I am recuperating, although I have neither worked out nor driven since I got ill. However, I intend to take a walk this (Friday) evening, because I am hopeful that I would get better. I am eating well now, and I’m prepared to go back on set any moment from now.”
His wife also said his Instagram account was hacked and the hackers were using it to scam people for money.
She said whoever wanted to assist her husband should come to the hospital or contact her directly
