In a continued effort to promote jazz music culture, Saxophone Hub & Vital Edge recently hosted two renowned professors from Berklee College of Music, Godwin Louis and Jhony Keys, at the grandeur Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event, which was graciously hosted by Ambassador Afolabi Oke (Ambassador of African Union 6th Region to Nigeria, ECOWAS), marked a pivotal moment in the mission to nurture talent, develop champions, and transform the African music landscape.

Ambassador Oke emphasized the significance of the event, stating that it signals a turning point for African music as the world increasingly recognizes the richness of our rhythms, sounds, and stories.

He further noted that partnerships like these offer invaluable opportunities for exposure and global connections.

For Grammy-nominated saxophonist, educator, and composer Godwin Louis, jazz music’s global prominence is achievable through a concerted, strategic effort.

He praised the talent and unique musical abilities within the Black community, stating, “I am amazed by the growth of the kids at Saxophone Hub and their level of understanding of music. The global market is ready for these budding gems.”

Jerry Omole, Managing Director/CEO of Saxophone Hub, reiterated the organization’s vision, stating that Saxophone Hub was created to cultivate generations of musicians who will not only perfect their craft but also elevate African music to global heights. “There’s no retirement when it comes to music; it enhances whatever dreams you have,” Omole emphasized.

It is also important to note that Saxophone Hub has a longstanding partnership with Backcountry Jazz Initiatives, led by Bennie Wallace, which provides scholarship opportunities for young saxophonists.

Additionally, Berklee College of Music is offering scholarships to some of the most outstanding musicians as part of its ongoing commitment to the development of global talent.
