Gunmen have attacked the convoy of Bernard Odo, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Ebonyi State.
The attack happened on Thursday night while he was returning from a rally.
Charles Oru, the media aide to the governorship candidate, shared details of the incident on Friday.
He said the gunmen intercepted Odo’s convoy along the Enugu-Abakaliki road and began shooting sporadically.
Oru said the Ebonyi APGA guber candidate escaped the incident unhurt as he hid in a Sienna vehicle.
“On sighting his entourage, the gunmen opened fire and shot at the driver of the Sienna conveying the governorship candidate,” Oru said.
“They missed their target because the governorship candidate disguised in a Sienna rather than his official car.”
The development comes days after three police officers were killed by gunmen at the border checkpoint along Enugu/Abakaliki expressway.
The gunmen, who operated in a Sienna bus, opened fire at the checkpoint, injuring one officer in the leg and killing three.
