A secondary school teacher reportedly died during the recent Governor Elder’s Walk Tournament in Asaba, Delta state capital.
BIGPEN Online gathered that the deceased simply identified as Mrs. Lovette Ighoroje of Guidance and Counselling department at the Asagba Secondary School, Asaba reportedly slumped and died before she could get medical help.
Dependable sources hinted that the incident happened at Mami Market by Federal Collage Junction area of Asaba, Delta State capital during the ten kilometers walk held on Monday ahead of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s second term inauguration.
It was learnt that she slumped less than two kilometers into the walk which commenced at Abraka Junction in Asaba through Dennis Osadebay Way, Nnebisi Road, Anwai road to Government House, Asaba.
A family source who preferred anonymity said the woman was hale and hearty before joining the tournament which was package for all Deltan elders between the ages of 55 and 70.
Her corpse, as at the time of filing this report, our source disclosed was still at the morgue at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba.
The source said, “the news of her death came to us as a rude shock. If anybody had told us that she would die even two years time, we would have doubted it.”
The mother of three who hails from Aboh in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of the State would be buried on June 22 this year, according to the family source.
Recall that Dr. Toju Eresanara who came first in the walk, got the sum of N3 million as prize while his runners up, Mr. Hycinth Osuhor and Mr. Ojubana Peter got the sums of N2 million and N1 million respectively.
