Mr. Segun Abrams, publisher and editor-in-chief of Fresh Facts Newspaper, has been conferred with the national award of the Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), by President Muhammadu Buhari
A dye-in-the-wool journalist and master essayist, Abrams is a creator and innovative pioneer of publications.
Whilst an undergraduate in the early 90s, he established the then wave-making, independent and fiery national student newspaper: Watchdog.
He has since then created few other brands – news magazines and newspapers – including Fresh Facts, known for factuality, balance and courage.
Abrams graduated from the diploma program at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, as the best graduating student of Journalism in 1992, with a Distinction pass.
Having only been in professional practice for barely five years, and just shortly after his graduation from the journalism class, he emerged Nigeria’s, arguably, youngest editor of a national publication in 1992, at the age of 24.
He was appointed editor-in-chief of the now moribund Kaduna-based Network, a national newsmagazine, co-founded by him and some globally-prominent oligarchs from northern Nigeria. He creditably discharged his full-time duties whilst, at the same time, pursuing a full-time degree at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Mr. Abrams has since then worked in few other organisations in the print media. He has lately, in concert with a foreign-based international media consortium, expanded into the broadcast media with his company’s television station getting set to hit the airwaves.
The publisher has travelled to many countries of the world for academic and journalistic purposes.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Management-Nigeria; Fellow, Institute of Management Specialists-United Kingdom; Member, Africa Business Club, and; Member, Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria.
Holder of the traditional title of Osayin Oso of Magongo Land of Kogi State, Abrams holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in public policy from the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
Congratulations sir, for the National award of the OFR. We your family are very proud of you, and we will continue to pray for more upliftings and greater blessings. The sky is your beggining in Jesus name..
