Ex-NAF spokesman, Maigida slumps, dies in Abuja

Wapkerem Maigida, a former spokesperson of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), is dead.

Daily Trust reports that Ayodele Famuyiwa, NAF spokesperson, confirmed Maigida’s death in Abuja on Monday.

Maigida was said to have slumped and died despite being hale and hearty before the incident.

Oladayo Amao, chief of air staff, approved the appointment of Maigida as the NAF spokesperson on January 4.

Before his appointment, he was the commander of 551 NAF station in Jos and also a former aide-de-camp to Jonah Wuyep, former chief of the air staff.

While assuming office on January 6, he had promised to use the media space to bring the narrative of NAF in enhancing national security architecture in the country.

Mourning the deceased through his Facebook page, Sadeeq Shehu, former NAF director of PR said: “I join the Chief of the Air Staff, officers and men and DOPRI personnel to mourn the death of Air Commodore Wap Maigida. A dependable subordinate to his superiors and a compassionate superior to his subordinates.”
