Erelu Okin apologizes for sharing fuel as party souvenir – after arrest order

The Erelu Okin of Orile Kemta, Pearl Chidinma Ogbolu, has tendered a apology for sharing kegs of fuel as souvenirs at her installation party in Lagos.

The apology comes after the Lagos State government sealed off the event centre where she hosted a party during which she shared fuel as souvenirs and police ordered the arrest of those involved.

Ogbolu, who shared a dancing video alongside her apology put her actions down to “momentarily indiscretion.”

She said, “My intent was just to show appreciation to my guests for turning up at my event at these hard times.

“I have paused to reflect and truly apologise and I thank you all for your understanding and criticisms.

“As ERELU OKIN, my mission is to beautify lives. I will continue to strive to be better and do better. Thank you.”

The Lagos state government had on Saturday shut down the Havillah Event Centre in Oniru where the party held and Lagos police ordered the arrest of those involved.

Recall that a video had emerged on social media on Saturday showing a party celebrant distributing gallons  containing fuel as souvenirs.

The video generated controversy, leading to  a prompt reaction from the Lagos State government which sealed the event centre.

The Lagos Safety Commission and the Rapid Response Squad sealed the centre for allegedly contravening public safety rules for allowing.

Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, who made this known in a statement on Saturday said the state’s police commissioner has ordered the arrest of the celebrant and others involved.

He said, “There is no doubt that this action is dangerous and can lead to loss of lives and property”.

“The Lagos State Government, through the Safety Commission, is investigating this matter and will ensure that all parties to this reprehensible action are made to account for it.

“The safety of lives and property of Lagosians and visitors remains a top priority to the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration. We, therefore, advise that actions that can lead to loss of lives and property be avoided.”
