Usman Okai Austin, a former lawmaker who represented the Dekina/Bassa federal constituency in the House of Representatives, has been arrested.
According to reports, Austin was apprehended on Wednesday by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Omoyele Sowore, Convener of the #RevolutionNow Movement and publisher of SaharaReporters, announced the arrest in a post on X.
“Imagine how these lawless @OfficialDSSNG mercenaries are abducting, torturing, and dehumanizing Nigerian citizen @Austinokai simply for expressing his opposition to the illegitimate Gov. Ododo of Kogi State. #RevolutionNow #FreeAustinOkaiNow,” Sowore wrote.
He further condemned the DSS, stating, “Lawless @OfficialDSSNG at it again. They must release @Austinokai immediately, with no room for government security agencies acting as mercenaries for corrupt, unscrupulous, and illegitimate political figures like Ododo, Yahaya Bello, and others! #FreeAustinOkaiNow.”
