Digital Economy: NITDA DG calls for more collaboration from Microsoft

The Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi CCIE has charged Microsoft Nigeria for a more robust collaborative partnership in order to meet up with the expectations of the government and the general public on building and developing a sustainable digital economy.

The DG made this call when he met virtually with the representatives of Microsoft Nigeria today.

He said the meeting was important to review and standardize all their previous engagements in achieving a digital economy, adding that for any organization to thrive in a digital ecosystem, interaction is key as no organization can operate in isolation.

Mallam Abdullah disclosed that the Agency is working and developing a more robust platform by partnering with indigenous organizations like the Microsoft Nigeria in achieving a digital entrepreneurial structure.

He said it is imperative for Microsoft Nigeria to send a framework of their proposed collaboration process to have a One-government enterprise necessary for a harmonized digitized government framework.

The DG assured the Microsoft Nigeria representatives that the Agency will pull resources together to broaden the horizon of the Global Skill Initiative so that general populace will be privy to the initiative and benefit from its advantages.

Mr Akin Banuso of Microsoft Nigeria thanked the DG NITDA and the entire staff for the opportunity of meeting again and working on what they had in pipeline. He assured the DG that their organization is determined in strengthening the partnership so as to improve the ecosystem.

He said that NITDA had helped in having a waiver for the 365 application. He particularly commended NITDA for their commitment to the digital acceleration in the country which has helped the government economically and in various domestic sectors.

Mr Banuso further said Microsoft Nigeria has launched a Global Skill Initiative which will increase employment opportunities amongst the youth. He said the tinitiative would be driven with other inputs they are hoping to get from NITDA.

He further stated that they are presently considering on how to get this initiative to people who have little access to internet and bringing the content of the initiative to people in remote places.
