The Ondo State House of Assembly has said it has received a medical leave letter from Rotimi Akeredolu, the state governor.
In January, Richard Olatunde, his chief press secretary, had said though the governor was battling some health challenges, he is receiving treatment and discharging his duties.
Speaking on Tuesday, Olamide Oladiji, speaker of the house, explained that the governor has embarked on a 21-day medical leave outside of Nigeria’s shores.
“The leave which commenced on 7th of June, extends to 6th July, 2023 due to the Public Holidays on June 12 (Democracy Day) and Eid el Kabir (28th and 29th June, 2023),” the letter reads.
He said the governor has directed Lucky Aiyedatiwa, his deputy, to act in his stead.
