For his immense contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria and the educational sector, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, the immediate-past governor of Delta State was on Saturday, conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Public Administration by the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu State.
Uduaghan was honoured during the school’s 50th Convocation/Golden Jubilee ceremony, an event that was witnessed by top eminent personalities.
The former Delta governor was among the only three awardees in that category. The others were the group managing director of Zenith Bank Plc, Mr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu and an alumnus of UNN, Engr. Fubara Obioha.
Whilst congratulating Dr. Uduaghan, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Charles Igwe pointed out that the conferment is in recognition of his contribution to Public service and governance.
While Dr. Uduaghan held sway as Delta governor, he was reputed for his N5 million overseas scholarship given to first class graduates of the state and remarkable improvement in the fortunes of education as well as other sectors.
Moments earlier, Dr. Uduaghan commissioned a brand new UNN Medical Centre built with the university’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
The former Governor commended the Vice-Chancellor for the initiative and advised other tertiary institutions to emulate UNN.
