APC Crisis: It’s not true, I didn’t receive any letter from Buni – Bello

Niger State Governor and acting chairman of the Caretaker/Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Abubakar Sani Bello has denied receiving any letter from the Yobe State Governor and CECPC Chairman, Mai Mala Buni.

Speaking after a meeting of the CECPC in Abuja on Thursday, Bello denied seeing the letter which Buni claimed he used to transfer power to him.

It will be recalled as earlier reported by Naija News that Buni claimed in a leaked letter he forwarded to the Governor of Niger State, Sani Bello that he has transferred power to him before his trip.

The letter which was dated February 28, 2022, was addressed to Governor Bello and other members of the caretaker committee before Buni’s medical trip.

The letter read in part, “This is to inform you that I will be embarking on a medical trip to the United Arab Emirates from today, February 28, 2022. I will resume office upon my discharge from the hospital.

“In my absence, I hereby transmit the functions of my office as the National Chairman of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee to you. This is to enable the committee to conclude all arrangements leading to the national convention slated for March 26, 2022, and other duties that may be required of the office.

“I invite all members to cooperate with Governor Abubakar Sani Bello by extending to him all the support that I have enjoyed from you.”

But asked by newsmen about the letter, Gov. Bello denied ever receiving any letter.

Bello simply said: “I haven’t seen it,” when he was asked by newsmen.

He also revealed that no decision has been taken to replace Senator John James Akpanudoedehe as the CECPC secretary as the matter had not come up for discussion during any of their recent meetings.

Bello however assured that the March 26 date for the APC national convention is sacrosanct.
