Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom State governor says he anointed Pastor Umo Eno as his successor because he’s certain he (Eno) would perform better than him if elected governor.
Udom said anointing Eno, the commissioner for land and housing, remains one of his best decisions.
He, therefore, solicited cooperation and supports to ensure Eno’s victory at the polls in 2023, noting that “the PDP had since the return of democracy in 1999, brought quality developments that will be sustained by another incoming PDP administration in Akwa Ibom.”
Speaking at the inauguration of Umo Eno Governorship Campaigns Council in Uyo, the state of capital, Emmanuel described the PDP governorship candidate, as the best candidate for the state’s political top job next year, maintaining, he will surpass my achievements as Governor.”
He said: “Some investors spoke to me, I said the person coming after me is 100 times better than me. I want to believe those who did not believe before are beginning to believe it, that the person coming after me is better and I am not saying so to flatter, I’m saying so because I know what I am saying”.
The governor further stressed the need for issue-based campaigns throughout the window, warning party supporters to imbibe high level decorum to sustain the existing peace in the state.
The PDP governorship flag-bearer, Pastor Eno, thanked the party, stakeholders and the people of the state for believing in him, and promised to work towards expanding the legacies of Governor Emmanuel and growing the economy.
He urged the youths to be in the vanguard of electing and enthroning the right choices “for sustainable peace and security in the state.”
