Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has clarified that he had no hand in TikToker, Olumide Ogunsanwo, also known as ‘SeaKing’s arrest, stating that certain individuals, angered by the TikToker’s remarks, took the decision to arrest him.
The clergy further called on the Police to release the Tiktoker.
SeaKing was rearrested on Thursday when he appeared for a separate trial at a magistrate’s court in Lagos. Inibehe Effiong, his lawyer, said this in a statement he posted on his verified X handle hours after the arrest, explaining that Mr Ogunsanwo was arrested while in court for an earlier case the police instituted against him.
Rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, who visited Seaking, alongside some lawyers, in police custody in Abuja on Friday had reported that they were told that his arrest was based on a petition from one Paul James Adama using the name of a Christian association or group “affiliated with FPRO Adejobi Olumuyiwa.”
He said the petition was reportedly submitted on behalf of Adeboye.
But while speaking during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service held at the Redemption City, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, on Friday, Pastor Adeboye said, “I heard that there is someone who lambasted me thoroughly. What is my offence? Because I asked my people to fast for 100 days. I didn’t ask him o.
“I didn’t even ask anybody who is not a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to fast.
“I was told some people got so angry and went to arrest the fellow. Release him, he’s fulfilling prophecy”.
