Tunde Bakare, senior pastor and founder, The Citadel Global Community Church, formally known as Latter Rain Assembly, has completed his mega church project reported to cost N18 billion.
The new project known as ‘The Citadel’ and located at First Bank bus stop on Oregun road, Lagos, a short distance from the old Daystar Christian Centre, will serve as the church’s new auditorium.
Bakare has operated the Latter Rain Church at a single location on Akilo road, Ogba, Lagos without any other branch anywhere, for many years. He tried to establish a few branches some years ago but soon reverted to status quo.
According to Wikipedia, Bakare, born a Muslim, converted to Christianity in 1974.
The Nigerian Prophetic-Apostolic pastor was reportedly arrested in March 2002 after preaching sermons critical of then-president Olusegun Obasanjo.
Described as one of the most politically influential pastors in Nigeria, the clergy was the running mate of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 presidential election.
A former pastor at the Deeper Life Bible Church before he left to join the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) which he soon left to form his own.
