EdoDecides2020: Voting ends, counting begins as APC wins in Ize-Iyamu, Oshiomhole’s polling units

Confirmed information reaching THE WITNESS revealed that voting has officially ended in the ongoing Edo State 2020 gubernatorial election.

Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the election in his polling unit.

Ize-Iyamu voted at his PU 26, Ward 5, Iguododo, Orhionmwon Local Government Area, on Saturday morning.

The result of the unit was announced by the presiding INEC official at the polling unit, on Saturday afternoon.

The result showed that Mr Ize-Iyamu of the APC scored 292 votes while Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 21 votes.

Similarly, the immediate past chairman of the ruling APC, Adams Oshiomhole, also won his polling unit by a large majority of total votes cast.

The APC polled 1,201 votes cast at Ward 10, PU 001, Estako West Local Government Area while the PDP polled no vote in the unit, according to the announced result.

The result in Mr Oshiomhole’s polling unit gives the APC a heads up over the PDP, whose deputy governorship candidate, Phillip Shaibu, is also from Etsako West.
