Bayelsa: Festus Keyamo hails Supreme Court ruling
………………………………
The Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has praised the Supreme Court over its Judgement on matters concerning the 2019 general elections.
A panel of justices led by Mary Odili asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Lyon and to re-issue another to the candidate with the second highest number of votes.
Justice Peter-Odili asked INEC to issue a fresh certificate to the governorship candidate with the highest votes cast and wide geographical spread in the governorship election held on November 16, 2020.
obeying the directive of the Supreme Court, INEC Chairman, Yakubu Mahmoud on Friday then declared PDP candidate, Douye Diri winner and issued him certificate of return.
Reacting to this, Festus Keyamo (SAN) in one of his tweet commended the Supreme court and said we have to look at our own internal party mechanisms that make us give our victories needlessly away to the opposition & take appropriate actions.
In a tweet on Friday on his verified handle – @fkeyamo, the APC chieftain said: “The S/Court has been firm & resolute so far regarding pre-election cases & Election Petitions. I commend their lordships. As a party, we have to look at our own internal party mechanisms that make us give our victories needlessly away to the opposition & take appropriate actions.
