The Vice President Yemi Osinbajo-led Presidential Committee investigating allegations leveled against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), David Babachir Lawal and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ayo Oke has promised to carry out its assignment without fear or favour.
The three-man panel, which has since commenced work, also has the Attorney General and Justice Minister, Abubakar Malami and National Security Adviser (NSA) Maj Gen Babagana Mongunu as members. The committee is to specifically probe allegations of legal and due process violations made against the SGF and the discovery of large amounts of foreign and local currencies by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a residential apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos.
A statement issued by Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant on media and publicity to the Vice President, yesterday said that all proceedings during the investigation will be conducted in closed-door sessions, so as to avoid speculations and allow for full disclosure, as well as, enhance the pace.
