A human rights group has come out to warn the Federal Government on the continued detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, adding that this will lead to total disorder and anarchy in the country.
The Deputy Director of the group, Dr. Adenike Ayedun who stated this during a press briefing in Lagos urged the Buhari led Federal Government to obey court orders and release Kanu who has been granted bail by a court of competent jurisdiction.
He further added, that failure to obey court orders, especially one affecting the fundamental human rights of Nigerians could endanger Democracy and the rule of law.
The Human rights body specifically expressed surprise for “willful disregard of the rule of law by continuing to detain the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, (IMN), Ibrahim El Zakzaky since December 14”, and the detention of Nnamdi Kanu and others who were granted bail by the Federal High Court.
It argued, “No government that avows respect for the Constitution and human liberty can afford to behave in this audacious and autocratic manner.
