Haruna Osegba, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, said that the 13 councils in the state got N752 million from the Federation Account for payment of March staff salaries.
Osegba disclosed this to journalists in Lafia on Friday after the state’s Local Government Joint Account Committee and stakeholders’ meeting.
He said allocation to the local governments in the state from the previous month was N896 million, representing a decrease of N144 million.
Osegba further said the joint account meeting had agreed that the ministry should augment the amount to enable Local Governments and Development Areas pay workers.

The commissioner said the payment would be between 50 and 70 per cent of their salaries.
He said: “Based on this agreement, the least any worker at the local government area level will receive as March salary is 50 per cent while the maximum is 70 per cent.”
He called for the understanding, patience and support of all workers assuring them that the state government was working assiduously to ameliorate their conditions of living.
Osegba appealed to Nigerians to pray and support President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts aimed at getting the country out of current the economic recession.
