Hajiya Asia El-Rufai, wife of Nasir El-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna state has raised concerns over the safety of her family, alleging that they are being monitored and that their communication lines have been compromised.

In a message shared on her Facebook page, she claimed that she and Aishatou El-Rufai, another wife of the former governor, Aishatou  were being tracked by unknown persons.

She further alleged that their phone conversations were being intercepted, warning that the authorities should be held responsible if any harm comes to them.

“They are following me and Aisattou, let the world know that if anything happens to us the Government should explain. Our phones are bugged… our lives are in danger,” she wrote.

The alarm comes amid ongoing legal and political tensions surrounding the former governor, who has been facing multiple investigations and court proceedings since early 2026.

El-Rufai was previously involved in a confrontation with security operatives at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, after which he alleged political targeting by top security officials.

He has also faced questioning from anti-graft agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), over allegations linked to his time in office.

His legal battles have since moved through different courts, with bail granted under strict conditions in April 2026, while other related charges remain before the courts.
