The federal high court in Abuja has ordered the remand of Emmanuel Analike, the founder of Netnaija Media Enterprises, at the Kuje Correctional Centre over alleged copyright violations.

Analike was arraigned on Wednesday by the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC).

The commission alleged that he used his online platform to unlawfully distribute movies and other third-party content, making them accessible for public download.

Prosecution counsel Gladys Isaac-Ojo told the court that the matter was slated for the defendant’s arraignment.

Isaac-Ojo, who leads the NCC’s legal unit, accused Analike of offences under section 44(1)(a) of the Copyright Act, 2022, relating to alleged copyright breaches involving digital media shared via an online platform.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read.

Nnemeka Ejiofor, counsel to Emmanuel Analike, subsequently filed a bail application, informing the court that it had been submitted on Monday, supported by a 23-paragraph affidavit and a written address.

Presiding judge Suleiman Liman declined to issue an immediate ruling, adjourning the bail application to March 9, 2026. He also ordered that Analike be remanded in Kuje prison pending the hearing.
