The Cross River police command has confirmed an attack on St. Mary’s catholic church at Katchuan Iruan in Boki local government area.
ASP Sunday Eitokpah, Police spokesman said the incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Thursday.
He added that suspected arsonists set fire to all church records in the sacristry and destroyed the priest’s Lexus 350 and a Toyota Corolla within the church premises.
According to him, “no suspect has been identified at this time. Efforts are ongoing to ascertain those responsible, and should any suspect be identified, this will be made known to the public.
“The scene has been visited, photographs taken, and the case referred to Okunde Police Station for discreet investigation.”
