Nigeria and Angola have signed a visa exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic and official/service passports.
This newspaper gathers that the agreement aims strengthen bilateral relations and ease official travel.
In a statement signed by Kimiebi Ebienfa, Ministry of foreign affairs Spokesperson on Sunday, he said the agreement was signed on Saturday on the sidelines of the 39th African Union Heads of State and Government meeting in Addis Ababa.
Nigeria was represented by Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of foreign affairs while Angola’s delegation was led by Minister of International Relations Tete Antonio.
Tuggar described the deal as a long-awaited milestone that will simplify official travel and deepen institutional cooperation.
According to him, “The arrangement will facilitate smoother official exchanges and create broader opportunities for joint initiatives, dialogue and partnership.”
Antonio praised Nigeria’s historic support for Angola during its liberation struggle, saying the new agreement consolidates long-standing ties and opens new avenues for cooperation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the visa exemption would remove administrative barriers, improve collaboration between institutions, and translate historical goodwill into sustained partnerships.
