Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has denied recommending the ceding of any disputed oil wells to oil-producing states.
In a statement on Sunday, Mohammed Shehu, chairman, RMAFC, described the circulating report as “misleading, premature, and does not represent the position or conclusions” of the commission.
It reads partly, “At this stage, there is no finalised recommendation or decision regarding the ceding or reallocation of any oil wells, as due institutional processes are still ongoing.”
The commission disclosed that it only received a draft report from the inter-agency committee on February 13, 2026.
According to RMAFC, the document has been forwarded to Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, National Boundary Commission and Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation for technical review.
RMAFC explained that the matter would undergo further scrutiny by its internal committees before being presented at plenary for deliberation and final recommendations.
It added that the final report would be transmitted to the President and the Attorney-General of the Federation upon conclusion of the statutory process.
“In view of the above clearly established procedures, the Commission considers the report currently circulating in the media as speculative, inaccurate, and capable of misleading the public,” it added.
The commission urged stakeholders and the public to disregard the report and await official communication.
