A fire outbreak in Tumfure Quarters, Gombe State, destroyed a two-bedroom flat and a three-bedroom detached residential building.
Bashir Muazu, public relations officer of the federal fire service, Gombe State Command, disclosed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Muazu said the fire was swiftly brought under control due to the prompt response and professionalism of firefighters deployed to the scene.
He confirmed that no life was lost during the incident.
“Our firefighters responded swiftly to the distress call and were able to confine the fire to the affected buildings. Their timely intervention prevented the blaze from spreading to nearby structures,” Muazu said.
He stated that preliminary findings showed that property valued at about ₦25 million was salvaged from the inferno.
According to him, the estimated value of items lost to the fire was put at approximately ₦5 million.
Muazu acknowledged the support of other emergency and security agencies during the operation.
“We appreciate the collaboration of the Gombe State Fire Service and security personnel from the Tumfure Divisional Police Station, whose support ensured a safe and coordinated operation,” he added.
The federal fire service urged residents to take fire safety seriously in their homes.
“We advise members of the public to regularly inspect and maintain their electrical installations, avoid practices that could trigger fire outbreaks, and keep basic firefighting equipment within reach. Prevention remains the most effective way to reduce fire incidents,” Muazu stated.
The incident comes a day after fire destroyed parts of a popular market in Kano state.
Reports said the blaze affected sections of the busy Singa Market on Monday.
