The Ogun State Police Command has filed a six-count cyberbullying charge against social welfare advocate Adetoun Onajobi, widely known as Just Adetoun, accusing her of repeatedly evading police invitations.

The charges, before the Abeokuta Division of the federal high court, stem from allegations that Onajobi used social media and other online platforms to publish what police described as false claims against the Ogun State Government and harass Governor Dapo Abiodun, contrary to provisions of the Cybercrimes Act.

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by Oluseyi Babaseyi, police public relations officer, the command said Onajobi was first invited for questioning on January 2, 2026, but failed to show up.

“On 2nd January, 2026, the Ogun State Police Command invited Adetoun Onajobi for an interview to afford her the opportunity to respond to allegations arising from her online bullying of the Ogun State Governor,” the statement read.

According to the police, Onajobi, through her lawyer, claimed she was ill and unable to attend, providing a medical report to support her claim.

“Rather than honour the police invitation, the suspect, through her lawyer, wrote to the Police claiming she was medically indisposed and unable to attend the meeting,” the statement said.

Police said further investigation revealed that the medical report was fabricated.

“Discreet investigations by the Police confirmed the falsity of the claims contained in the medical report,” the statement noted.

Babaseyi added that the doctor who issued the report was arrested and confessed that it was forged at the activist’s request.

“The doctor subsequently admitted that the entire medical report was a ruse, crafted at the direction of the suspect, Adetoun Onajobi, during a phone conversation between them,” the statement stated.

The doctor has since been arraigned before a magistrates’ court on charges of conspiracy, issuing a false document, and obstructing justice.

Babaseyi said Onajobi has since avoided all contact.

“The suspect, Adetoun Onajobi, has remained evasive and has rebuffed every invitation extended to her by the Police. Her current whereabouts are unknown,” he said.

He stressed that the command will pursue all legal avenues to locate and bring her before the court.

“Having reneged on her prior undertaking to honour police invitations, the command will exhaust all lawful means to apprehend and produce her before the Court to answer the charges already filed against her,” the statement read.

The police also noted that free speech does not shield citizens from prosecution.

“Constitutionally protected activities such as free speech have lawful limits and do not grant immunity from criminal conduct,” the statement said.

The Witness reports that the police invited Onajobi following a petition linked to videos in which she criticised Governor Abiodun’s handling of state affairs.

In the videos, she accused the government of abandoning victims of a December 2025 road crash involving British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua’s associates, alleging the state had “no single functional ambulance,” and claiming the governor prioritised entertainment spending over essential services.

She also alleged that while the state failed to procure emergency medical infrastructure, it purchased SUVs for local government chairmen in December 2025.

The command added that investigations were ongoing and that other persons allegedly involved in circulating the content were being tracked.
