President Donald Trump on Saturday shared a photo showing Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, in custody aboard a U.S. naval vessel.

The image, posted on Trump’s Truth Social account, shows Maduro wearing a blindfold and handcuffs onboard the USS Iwo Jima, hours after what Trump described as his capture by U.S. forces following a “large-scale strike” against Venezuela.

“Nicolas Maduro on board the USS Iwo Jima,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, alongside the photograph.

In the image, Maduro appeared to be wearing noise-cancelling earmuffs, as well as grey Nike-branded sweatpants and a matching jacket.

Trump had earlier announced that U.S. forces had successfully carried out a “large scale strike” against Venezuela, claiming that Maduro and his wife were captured and flown out of the country in an operation conducted in conjunction with U.S. law enforcement.

The photo was released with an editorial-use-only notice, credited to Trump’s Truth Social account via AFP.
