An eyewitness account says that Alausa residents stormed Polling Unit 022, Ward F, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State, in the early hours of Saturday to cast their votes in the ongoing local government elections.

Reports say voting commenced on schedule after a hitch-free accreditation exercise with a heavy presence of security personnel on ground to maintain order.

Officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) arrived at the polling unit early, with the process beginning at 8:40 a.m., as party agents observed the proceedings.

Similar voting activity was observed at other polling units in the Alausa area, including Units 027, 113, 038, and 112, where residents turned out to cast their votes.

At Polling Unit 003, St Peter’s Primary School, a voter, Omolara Jemiriye, described the exercise as orderly. “I just voted for my candidate, and the process was smooth. There was no issue,” she said.

The election is being closely monitored amid calls for increased voter participation and concerns about transparency and security.

Local Government election is being held across all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the state.
