Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has once again lived up to his promises after he disbursed a whopping N6 billion to offset backlog of gratuities and death benefits of retired civil servants in the state.
Speaking at the unveiling of the 4th trench of settlement on Thursday, Governor Yusuf assured people of Kano State of his administration’s resolve to offset the backlog of N48 billion inherited from immediate past administration.
Already, the government has settled N22 billion in four trenches to over 5,000 beneficiaries and next of kin of late retirees in the last two years.
Governor Yusuf disbursed ₦5 billion in the first tranche, followed by another ₦6 billion each in the second and third tranches, demonstrating his intent to offset the massive debt left by the previous administration.
“Governor Yusuf remains resolute in his pledge to pay every kobo owed to our retirees and the families of our late civil servants.
“The settlement of these outstanding gratuities and death benefits not only alleviates the hardship faced by affected families but also reaffirms the administration’s promise to restore trust in government and uphold social justice,” he said
Governor Yusuf further assured that the remaining balance will be cleared in subsequent tranches, ensuring that no pensioner or bereaved family is left behind.
