Iran launched missiles at US military bases in Qatar and Iraq on Monday evening, according to official media, describing the assault as a “powerful” response to recent American strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

“The operation of Iranian missiles against American bases located in Qatar and in Iraq has begun, and is called ‘Blessing of Victory’,” Iran’s state-run news agency IRNA reported.

AFP journalists confirmed hearing explosions in Doha, the capital of Qatar, which hosts Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US military installation in the region.

In response, Qatari authorities announced that their air defense systems successfully intercepted the incoming Iranian missiles aimed at Al Udeid.

“The Ministry of Defense announced that Qatari air defenses successfully intercepted a missile attack targeting Al Udeid Air Base,” the statement read, noting that no deaths or injuries were recorded in the incident.
