Workers affiliated with the Trade Union Congress (TUC) staged a picket at the federal ministry of finance headquarters in Abuja.
Wearing red T-shirts and caps, they blocked the entrance to the building and restricted vehicle access.
Some of the protesting employees held up placards with messages such as ‘Wale Edun, where is our allowance?’, ‘Stop the delay and pay us now’, ‘Wale Edun, please release the payment file’, and ‘Let the poor breathe’.
The workers explained that the protest was triggered by several months of unpaid allowances dating back to January 2025.
They warned they would continue their demonstration tomorrow if their demands remain unmet.
