A building under construction on Oriwu Street in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, has collapsed, trapping multiple people beneath the debris.

According to Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, the incident occurred at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Hundeyin confirmed that 14 individuals had been successfully rescued from the rubble and are now receiving medical care at Lagos Island General Hospital.

In his statement, he said, “The Lagos State Police Command has deployed officers to the scene of the building collapse on Oriwu Street, Lekki Phase 1, which took place at approximately 1600 hours today. So far, 14 people have been rescued and transported to the hospital for treatment. Police personnel are still on-site to ensure security during the ongoing rescue efforts.”
