Douye Diri, Bayelsa State governor has emerged as the chairman of the South-South Governors Forum.
Diri, a serving two-term governor, emerged during the ongoing meeting of the South-South Governors Forum taking place in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
Dr. Kola Oredipe, his media aide, announced his social media platform.
“Bayelsa State governor, Senator Douye Diri, emerges as new Chairman of the South-South Governors’ Forum,” he stated.
The governors are expected to discuss issues affecting the region regarded as the cash cow of the country.
Previously, all the governors of the region were elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but the All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded significant gains in the area, with Cross River and Edo and Delta States taken over by the party.
