Organ Harvesting: Ekweremadu’s wife regains freedom from UK prison

The wife of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Beatrice Ekweremadu has regained her freedom.

According to reports, she arrived in the country on Tuesday and is currently in Abuja.

Beatrice was sentenced to six years in prison by a UK court for her involvement in organ harvesting, along with her husband and Dr. Obinna Obeta.

The court found them guilty of attempting to buy a kidney from a young Nigerian boy to donate to their daughter Sophia.

Senator Ekweremadu received a 10-year prison sentence, while Dr. Obeta’s sentence was not specified.

The case marked the first conviction under the UK’s Modern Slavery Act 2015.
