Some Nigerians of Igbo extraction have cried out that they were abandoned by the federal government in Sudan amid the crisis in the country because of their Igbo identity.
In a now viral video, one of the victims could be heard lamenting in Igbo that after they entered the bus to be evacuated to Egypt alongside other Nigerians, the authorities ordered them to come down from the bus.
“We’re in Sudan, in the University of Khartoum,” he said. “We heard that they were evacuating Nigerians and also came to be evacuated. But when we got into the bus, they ordered us to come down. Everything has become politics. We’re begging Igbo people who can help us to come to our aide…”
