Hoodlums protesting over naira scarcity in the country have blocked the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway around Mowe/Ibafo axis of Ogun State.
The protesters, armed with sticks and other weapons, in the early hours of Friday, barricaded the expressway, leading to heavy gridlock on the road on both ways.
THE WITNESS reports that hundreds of motorists are currently stranded on the road.

This is as violent protests over the scarcity of naira notes continues to spread across the country, particularly within and around Lagos.
Hoodlums had also on Friday morning, stormed major roads in Mile-12, Ketu and Ojota areas, along Ikorodu Road, and Iyana-Ipaja.
Motorists and residents who were on their way to different places of work hurriedly turned back in panic as the rioters went berserk with bonfires set across the road.
Confirming the unrest, the spokesman of the Police Command in Lagos said:
“It is true. Our men are there. Reinforcement units have been deployed. Stay safe out there as we closely monitor and manage the situation.”
