Respite has finally come the way of less privileged widows, as Mercy Ogunbunmi Foundation berths, offering free medical services, as well as essential material and cash gifts to widows.
On Sunday, 6 November, 2022, the Mercy Ogunbunmi Foundation (Widows Outreach) was officially launched in commemoration of the pioneer’s 40th birthday, and dozens of less privileged widows were empowered at the event held at Austeno Multipurpose Hall, Obawole, Iju, Lagos State.
During the event, free blood pressure and sugar level tests were conducted for the widows, and free treatments administered where necessary. Cash and other gifts were also handed to each of the widows.
According to Ogunbunmi, the foundation was borne out of her passion to help the needy, widows and other vulnerable persons in the society.
The outreach exercise, according to her, will be more on a regular basis, particularly to the widows.
“This vision was borne out of compassion to help the needy who are less privileged, and most especially widows who are saddled with the sudden responsibility of taking care of their families,” Mrs Ogunbunmi said.
