The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained controversial hip-hop artiste, Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley, for contravening the lockdown order imposed on Lagos State by President Muhammadu Buhari to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease in the country.
Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, had on Saturday hosted a party in honour of her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello, popularly called JJC Skillz, at her residence in Amen Estate Ibeju-Lekki in Lagos. The party is in contravention of the lockdown order of President Muhammadu Buhari and Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on social distancing, which forbade a gathering of more than 20 people. Popular politician, Babatunde Gbadamosi and Naira Marley Marley attended the party.
When the video of the party leaked, the police arrested the actress on Sunday and arraigned her alongside her husband on Monday before a magistrate court sitting in Ogba, Lagos. In its judgement, the court sentenced Funke and her husband to 14-day community service with N100, 000 fine each.
Speaking on the arrest of Marley, DSP Bala Elkana, Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, on Monday, said the artiste will also be charged to court for violating the restriction orders.
