Kashim Shettima, a serving senator and former Borno governor, has said that vice president Yemi Osinbajo, presidential hopeful under the All Progressives Congress (APC) lacks the capacity to rule Nigeria, while stressing that Bola Tinubu is the best man for the job.
Shettima said these when he appeared on Channels Television on Friday night.
According to him, though the vice president is good and nice man, he cannot make a good leader.
“Osinbajo is a good, nice and a very decent person but nice men don’t make good leaders because they tend to be nasty. They should be selling ice cream, pop-corn and ‘gbagbologbo’ he said.
Senator Shettima further dismissed rumours that Tinubu will be standing down for Osinbajo in the forthcoming national convention of the APC.
“How do you expect an elephant to step down for Lilliputians?” Mr Shettima said when asked specifically whether or not Mr Tinubu was prepared to surrender his ambition and back the vice president or any of about 23 other aspirants seeking the party’s top ticket.
“Purported claims Mr Tinubu would step down “are just mere speculations,” Mr Shettima said, “and, most importantly, even the issue of anointing a consensus.”
The senator, who has been on the campaign trail with Mr Tinubu across the country, said nothing outside a free and fair primary would be acceptable to the campaign.
