Dr. Kayode Fayemi, governor of Ekiti State and presidential hopeful on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has noted that the country’s highest office is not anybody’s inheritance.
Fayemi who spoke on Channels TV was responding to questions regarding his alleged betrayal of former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu.
According to him, no one could accuse him of betrayal because the presidency is not an inheritance.
The Ekiti governor who formally declared his intention to run for president on Wednesday, insisted that the former governor of Lagos cannot lay claim to Nigeria’s presidency simply because it is his “life-long ambition.”
“This is not an inheritance. It’s about Nigeria. Nigeria is the commonwealth of all Nigerians,” Mr Fayemi insisted. “It is not a traditional title that we’re seeking. The office we are seeking is to make improvements in the life of Nigerias.”
Fayemi had during his declaration promised to empower youths when elected. He also said he would revamp the security agencies, decentralise governance and bring the government closer to Nigerians.
