16 kidnapped as bandits attack Southern Kaduna community again

Not less than 16 persons have reportedly been abducted in another bandits attack on Angwa Pa community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

A resident of the area said the incident occurred on Monday about 7:30 pm.

The attack came barely 24 hours after the Christmas Day assault on Angwan Aku, also in Kajuru council, where one person was killed and 45 were abducted.

A source from the village told journalists that the bandits invaded the community at about 7pm on Monday and surrounded the village.

The source said 53 people were abducted but 37 of them escaped and returned home on Tuesday morning, leaving 16 others in the bandits’ captivity.

“We didn’t expect that the bandits will attack Angwan Pa because after the attack on Anguwan Aku on Sunday, soldiers were deployed in the area.

“The bandits came around 7:30pm yesterday (Monday) and surrounded the village. They came in their large numbers as usual and well-armed.

“They just sneak into a community, before you know it, they have surrounded everywhere.

“If you run, they shoot and kill you. They don’t usually enter big communities that are densely populated.

“Many rural communities in Kajuru are now living in perpetual fear,” the source said.

Police spokesman DSP Muhammad Jalige could not be reached as calls put across to him were not answered.
