At least 11 people sustained varying degrees of injuries following a head-on collision involving two vehicles at the Magboro section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday.

We gathered that one of the drivers fled before emergency responders could arrive.

Three of the passengers reportedly escaped without injury, while the injured victims were quickly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, confirmed the crash and attributed the cause to “excessive speeding.”

“A total of 14 people were involved — 10 males and four females. Of these, 11 sustained injuries, including seven men and four women. Fortunately, no lives were lost,” she said.

Okpe explained that preliminary findings showed that speeding led to a loss of control by one of the vehicles, resulting in a head-on collision.

“There were two vehicles involved, and the speed led to loss of control by one of them. In a disturbing turn, the second vehicle driver reportedly fled the scene,” she added.

She further revealed that an investigation had been launched into the incident and urged members of the public to provide any useful information that could help identify and apprehend the fleeing driver.
